2587                        1954 MERCURY SUN VALLEY
It may surprise some people that the Mercury division of Ford was only 15 years old at the time of introduction of the 1954 models. Now they had it all. The 54 Mercury had great design plus the old flathead motor was replaced with a new overhead valve V8. The 54 Mercury's sold well and remain extremely desirable in todays collctor market. Of all the 54 Mercury's the Sun Valley hardtop was certainly one of the most unique and now the most collectable with its plexaglass roof. Gold badging tells onlookers it is a Sun Valley. Mercury Found 9761 Sun Valley buyers in 1954 making this model among the most rare. Unfortunately the survival rate was not high and few exist today. They were offered mainly in tow color combinations, yellow/green and light green/dark green and there were very few in white and black. (Continues below pictures)

There is a photo album that documents every step of the painstaking restoration from the beginning to the end. No expense as spared on this project. The gentleman that wrote the checks says he spent close to $100,000 by the time he was done. Every detail was handled even the silk shade that sips under the plexiglass roof is in place. There was some minor rust in the front floor prior to the restoration. It was cut out and replaced properly and professionally to insure complete removal.
